Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy has announced an unprecedented stadium tour across 12 African countries, promising to bring Afrobeats to record-breaking live audiences.
Grammy-winning Afrobeats superstar Burna Boy has announced what promises to be the most ambitious African music tour in history. The "African Giant Stadium Tour" will span 12 countries across the continent, with dates scheduled from June through September 2026.
The tour kicks off at Lagos National Stadium on June 15, with capacity expected to exceed 45,000 attendees. From there, Burna Boy will travel to Accra, Nairobi, Johannesburg, Dakar, and eight other major cities, culminating in a grand finale at the Cairo International Stadium on September 20.
"This isn't just a tour—it's a movement," Burna Boy said at a press conference held at his Lagos studio. "We're showing the world that African artists can fill stadiums just like anyone else. This is our time."
Industry analysts are already projecting that the tour could gross over $80 million, a figure that would shatter records for African music tours. Live Nation, which is co-promoting the tour, has described it as "one of the most significant live music events we've ever been involved with."
The tour will feature elaborate stage production including a 50-piece orchestra drawn from musicians across the continent. Burna Boy has also promised surprise guest appearances at each show, with speculation already swirling about potential appearances by Wizkid, Davido, Tems, and international collaborators.
Tickets go on sale next week, with prices ranging from ₦5,000 for general admission to ₦150,000 for VIP packages. The Lagos show sold out its initial allocation of 30,000 tickets within 12 minutes during a presale for newsletter subscribers, prompting the addition of a second date.
Music critics have noted that this tour represents a coming-of-age moment for Afrobeats as a global genre. "Five years ago, the idea of an African artist selling out multiple stadiums across the continent would have seemed impossible," wrote music journalist Tunde Bakare. "Burna Boy isn't just breaking records—he's breaking perceptions."
