Residents of Enugu reported seeing strange multicolored lights hovering over the city for over two hours last night, reigniting debates about unexplained aerial phenomena in Nigeria.

Residents of Enugu were left stunned last night after mysterious multicolored lights appeared in the sky above the city and remained visible for over two hours. Social media was flooded with videos and photos as thousands of residents gathered outside to witness the phenomenon.

The lights, described as shifting between blue, green, and gold, reportedly appeared around 9:30 PM and remained until shortly after midnight. Multiple witnesses described the objects as "pulsing" and moving in synchronized patterns that appeared to defy conventional aircraft capabilities.

Enugu State Police have confirmed receiving over 200 calls about the incident but stated they have no explanation at this time. The Nigerian Air Force has denied conducting any exercises in the area. The National Space Research and Development Agency has promised an investigation.

Dr. Amara Okonkwo, a physics professor at the University of Nigeria, suggested the lights could be explained by atmospheric phenomena. "Ball lightning or atmospheric reflections from distant events are possible explanations," she said. "However, the duration and behavior warrant serious scientific investigation."

The incident has reignited long-standing cultural beliefs in the region. Elder Nnamdi Okafor, a traditional leader in Enugu, told reporters that the lights match descriptions of "Ogbanje spirits" from Igbo folklore. "Our ancestors spoke of lights in the sky before major events," he said.

Social media reactions have been divided between skeptics demanding scientific explanations and believers claiming proof of extraterrestrial visitation. The hashtag #EnuguLights has trended nationally with over 2 million mentions.
